Power

Narrative short

Cinematographer, Steadicam

This project was “pure fun” as a director of photography. Working with director Stimson Snead, we decided we wanted to shoot a short film in just an afternoon at Gas Works Park in Seattle, a location we’d always wanted to use.

We discussed the project ahead of time, and decided to go with an “enhanced” run-and-gun style of shooting. We only planned a handful of shots, and opted to use only the Steadicam and natural light, which gave us the flexibility to compose and experiment with complex shots freely throughout the day. By adapting to the park, the lighting, and the performers, we were able to capture a lot of shots that fit with our vision for the piece without burning through our time on rehearsals and endless takes.
