My name is David Purdy, and I have been fortunate to work in many areas of video production in a wide variety of organizations.
I have developed an appreciation for what it takes to build connections using impactful visual storytelling through my experience in high end ad agency work for Fortune 500 clients, video journalism that directly engaged audiences to tell community stories across Southeast Alaska, and relationship building that allowed me to tell authentic stories of the work and mission of Seattleās largest nonprofit resident theater.
I am currently the video producer at Seattle Rep, where I produced streamed versions of shows for their 2021/2022 season.
Previously I produced video and managed digital platforms for KTOO, the public broadcaster in Juneau, Alaska. I started in the newsroom, where had the opportunity to produce, direct, film, edit, and animate news stories, explainers, documentaries, engagement videos, and special projects. I then transitioned to a leadership role in digital platforms, branding, and video productions, and special digital projects.
Before moving to Alaska, my wife and I lived in the Seattle area where I worked as a director, account manager, and visual effects supervisor for commercial projects with Vossler Media Group, a boutique creative agency and production company. There, I solved interesting internal and external communication challenges for some of the world’s biggest brands and managed a motion graphics team as the agency more than doubled in size.
My experience in media is built on the foundation of storytelling that I learned working in regional theater and indie film, where I first learned how to lead creative teams and the power of small details to convey big ideas.
